Our

Wizz Air: Additional services at the airport

For extended Wizz Air flight delay or cancellation, you automatically entitled to certain benefits. Although these rights and benefits may vary depending on the distance of your flight, it is important to note what these benefits are. Below, you’ll find an overview of what you’re eligible for:

  • Short distance, below 1500 km: from 2 hours delay – free drinks, food and 2 emails, telephone calls or faxes
  • Medium distance, between 1500-3500 km: from 3 hours delay – free drinks, food and 2 emails, telephone calls or faxes
  • Long-haul, from 3500 km: from 4 hours delay – free drinks, food and 2 emails, telephone calls or faxes

Delays of 5 hours or more

When the delay goes over five hours, you have the right to cancel your flight. The airline is obliged to either reimburse you for the costs or find you an alternative transportation method.

Flight postponed until the following day

When the delay carries on into the following day the airline must find you hotel accommodation and cover the costs of getting there and back to the airport. Contact the airline directly and ask them to confirm this in writing.

Wizz Air Tips & Updates You can check in online with Wizz Air starting from 30 days up to 48 hours before your departure. This online check-in is free, helping you avoid potential delays or airport check-in fees. Wizz Air offers a mobile app to keep you informed about flight-related updates.

On Past Delays and Compensations There was a time when Wizz Air was not prompt in handling passenger compensation, leading Flightright to frequently defend valid claims in court. However, the airline has improved significantly, processing compensation claims much quicker now.

Online Check-in with Wizz Air For those who’ve purchased seats with Wizz Air, online check-in begins 30 days before the flight. Otherwise, it’s available 48 hours prior. Checking in online is not only efficient but also cost-effective, as Wizz Air charges fees for airport check-ins. Their app is a handy tool for both check-in and flight updates.

About

Under what conditions is your flight delay with Wizz Air eligible for compensation?

When is Your Wizz Air Flight Delay Eligible for Compensation?

Travelers flying with Wizz Air are entitled to compensation under these circumstances:

  • Flight Delay: If your Wizz Air flight reaches its destination over 3 hours past the estimated arrival time.
  • Flight Cancellation: If you’re either uninformed about the cancellation or are informed fewer than 14 days prior to departure.
  • Overbooking: In cases where you are denied boarding due to the overbooking of the flight.
  • Missed Connection: If a delay in one of your flight legs causes you to miss a connecting flight, resulting in your arrival at the destination over 3 hours late.

Wizz Air Compensation Breakdown Based on Flight Distance:

  • Short-distance (Below 1500km): €250 compensation is due to passengers.
    • Example: London to Edinburgh
  • Medium-distance (Between 1500km and 3500km): Passengers are entitled to €400.
    • Example: London to Athens
  • Long-distance (Over 3500km): Passengers are due €600 as compensation.
